Orthodox monastery The Sumela Monastery is a world famous monument of the Christian Heritage, during 16 centuries being a symbol of Pontian Hellenism. Monastery complex is located near the city of Trabzon (Turkey) and is included in a list of the UNESCO most protected monuments. For 10 years Greek diaspora of Russia organize pilgrimages to the ancient relic. In 2010 in the monastery in the first time for 88 years was held the Orthodox liturgy.
«Fan-club FC PAOK of Former Sovient countries» is a union of like-minded people, created by the initiative of the Coordinating Committee of Youth of SAE former Soviet Union countries. The goal of the fan-club is an organized support of the football team PAOK by fans, living on the entire territory of the former Soviet Union, promotion of sport and healthy lifestyle.
The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church was built in Rostov-on-Don by at the Charitable Foundation of Ivan Savvidi and offertory of Don`s Greek diaspora. It was built in remembrance of Greek Church destroyed in 1964. Construction project of church was blessed by Patriarch of All Russia Alexiy II. The first stone of the building, creating in a Neo-Byzantine style, was founded September, 22 in 2007. Painting and interior finishing work are being done nowadays.
«Elpida+" is a TV project about Greek heritage in Russian history and about Greek diaspora of Russia. This TV program broadcasted on the TV channel «Crimea» from 2015. Maria Lazaridi, master of cultural studies in V. Ι. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University, is the author and anchorman of the program.
«Crimean lighthouse» is an All-Russian youth festival of Greek culture. Festival was held from 4th till 9th of May in Yalta for the first time under the aegis of the Federal Agency for Nationalities. FNKA of Greeks of Russia with the support of the Charitable Foundation of Ivan Savvidi were organizers of the festival. The goal of the Fest with more than 300 participants of Greek youth is a creation of cultural platform for strengthen interfaith and interethnic relations among the nations of Russia.
Festival of Greek culture «Akropolis» successfully was held for the second time on the 24th of September in 2016, in Moscow, in the garden of Hermitage. Moscow community of Greeks, Moscow Government and Regional Social Youth Greek Organization «Argo» were organizers of the festival. Festival became the opportunity for meetings, informal conversations of compatriots and Philhellenes. So many emotions, positive, which lack in weekdays!
