In Historical museum were summed up the results of Cross year Russia and Greece. At the closing ceremony of the Cross Year participated Chairman of the Greek Republic Parliament Nikolaos Vutsis, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov, the head of the Culture Ministry of Russia Vladimir Medinskiy and the general director of the Historical Museum Aleksei Levykin.
«Formally closing the Cross year of Russia-Greece we certainly cunning, because exchange programs in the area of museum cooperation, theatre and archival business also will be continued in the future, — Vladimir Medinskiy said, — This year gave us impulse to our relations, but behind our backs more than thousand years of close political, humanitarian and ecclesiastical contacts, and I`m sure, more long history of friendship waits for our countries onwards».
From his side, Chairman of the Greek Republic Parliament Nikolaos Vutsis, thanked everybody, who with an enthusiasm and a great love worked for the benefit of successful holding the Cross year. «Positive result of this scale event again underlines peculiarities of relations between our countries, which in spite of unfavorable international circumstances and difficult problems, inherent the beginning of XXI century, continuous ancient traditions of friendship and cooperation», — he said, emphasized that close interaction of Russian and Greece is a necessary nations request of two countries. Furthermore, according to his words, success of the year imposes obligations of effective continuous of these beginning also in the future.
Guests also had a view of the exhibition «Gods and heroes of the Ancient Greece» in the Historical museum, where are presented rarities from 30 Greek museums. It covers the whole period of antiquity — from prehistory till The Roman Empire. According to the Aleksey Levikin’s words, the exhibition became one of the main expositions of the old year, which is visited by several thousand people every week.
