Solemn opening ceremony of the department of Russian language and culture will be October, 5 in 2017 at 19.00 at assembly hall of University (Thessaloniki, Greece)
Opening the department of Russian language and culture at the Aristotle University

The department of Russian language and culture is opening at the philosophy faculty of the Aristotle University by the support of charitable foundation of Ivan Savvidi.

Participants of the ceremony: Deputy Minister of education, science and religion of Greece K. Zuraris, General Consul of Russian Federation in Thessaloniki A. P. Shcherbakov, Director of secretariat of the International association of Russian language teachers A. Korotyshev, Rector of the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki Periklis Mitkas, founder of the Ivan Savvidi Charitable foundation, President of the FNCA of Greeks of Russia Ivan Savvidi, representatives of the leading universities of the Russian Federation.

Program of the opening ceremony:

19.00 -19.30 — Welcome of official persons

19.30 — 19.40 — Presentation the department of Russian language and culture by Tatyana Triandafillidi, who is elected as Head of department

19.40 — 20.00 — Concert program

Charitable foundation of Ivan Savvidi

Established in 2000 on the personal order of Ivan Savvidi. Foundation realizes projects contributing to progress in the spheres of education, science, culture, spirituality, sport and social responsibility. The total volume of charitable payments exceeds 500 million rubles in year.

With the support of the Foundation at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the department of Russian language and literature has been established and also the department of the Russian language, philology and Slavic studies in the Kapodistrii National University of Athens. Nowadays 305 students study at the department. The educational program includes a number of disciplines of general Slavonic significance and also the fundamental body of disciplines in Russian is widely represented.
